Our Community in the Park still in same location

A full day of free services, health check ups and giveaways will happen at the fifth annual Our Community in the Park, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 4.
Although construction of the new city hall is taking place at the usual site, the event will still be there, in the grassy area on the west side of Friendship Park.
Everyone is invited to come take advantage of free dental care, medical checks, hearing and vision checks. There will be an onsite physician and pharmacist for medical exams and prescription vouchers.
There will be free clothing, food, family photos, car washes, auto service checks, haircuts, bicycle maintenance checks, just to name a few things.
Work crews will be going out into the community to do lawn work, window washing for seniors and other people who need help.
Don't miss the Kids' Corner, where children can play on giant inflatables, and enjoy crafts and activities.
For adults, there will be live musical entertainment all day. Groups confirmed so far include: the Mud Springs Gospel Band, Jose Adame and Family, the Brooks Family, the Jim Leach Family, and the Road Kill Band, featuring Mark Harner and Pastor Ron Mulkey.
The Our Community in the Park event is presented by the churches of Madras as a way of giving back to the community, as organizers say, "Because it's the right thing to do."
