Culver cowboy Brian Bain made a move in the PRCA world bareback standings recently
Bain fared well at the California Rodeo Salinas, sharing the average title worth $2,908 thanks mainly to a win the final round with a ride of 88 points on Flying U Rodeo's Comnanchero for an additional $1,650.
Close neighbor and four-time world bareback riding champion Bobby Mote tied for sixth at the annual Salinas rodeo.
Mote sits in fifth place in the world bareback standings with $54,496 earned. Bain, who had nearly $8,000 credited to the standings for his earnings in rodeos last week, moved up to 10th place with $41,974 earned.
Both Bain and Mote compete in four to six rodeos per week during this time of the year. Only the top 15 cowboys and cowgirls in each event qualify for the National Finals Rodeo hosted by Las Vegas, Nev., in December. Both are on pace to qualify.
