Pioneer recently won three awards in the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association's Better Newspaper Contest, and one in the Best Ad Ideas Contest.
Entries competed against other weeklies in Oregon with circulations of 3,001 or more.
Awards were announced July 11-13, during the AdCon and summer publishers convention at the Resort at the Mountain in Welches.
Sports Editor Joe McHaney won a second place award in the Best Sports Photo category for his shot of the Culver girls volleyball team celebrating around Gabrielle Alley after a point earned in a volleyball match.
News Editor Holly Gill won a third place award in the Best Coverage of Business category for her article "Foreclosures keep market afloat"
The Pioneer staff garnered a third place award in the Special Sections category for the 2011 edition of "Sageland Magazine."
The ad department staff won an honorable mention award in the Best Institutional/Image Ad category for their ad on Erickson's Fabulous '50s Days.
