Culver to play at Grant Union; MHS visits Stayton in football openers

Season begins Aug. 31
In less than three weeks, the 2012 high school football season will begin.
   Class 4A Madras High School, which advanced to the post season in football for the first time since 2005 last year, will open play at 7 p.m. Aug. 31 at Class 4A Stayton for a nonconference endowment game.
   MHS, which went 4-5 overall last year, will host 5A Redmond Sept. 7, Sisters Sept. 14 and Crook County Sept. 21 - all games are nonconference. The White Buffalos begin 4A Tri-Valley Conference play Sept. 28 at North Marion.
   Class 2A Culver will begin its nonconference season at 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at 3A Grant Union, before visiting Stanfield Sept. 14. The Bulldogs finished 3-6 overall last season, including a 42-14 win over Grant Union at home.
   CHS will begin 2A Tri-River Conference play Oct. 5 against Regis.
