Central Oregon Community College is developing a certified nursing assistant-1 course to be taught in Madras.
An informational meeting is slated for 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 19, in the community room of the COCC Madras campus to gauge interest and let potential students know about requirements, costs and career opportunities.
According to organizer Nancy Jumper, of the Bend COCC Community Learning office, part of the class will be taught online, a skills lab with practice in mannequins will be at Mountain View Hospital, and the clinical piece will be held at East Cascade Assisted Living.
COCC has applied for state grant funds, to help lower the cost of the program.
"We're waiting to hear on the grants in October, and looking at starting the program in early November, pending grant funds," Jumper said.
