SHERWOOD - The Sherwood High School boys and girls soccer teams will be looking to earn Class 5A state playoff berths on Saturday.

And the Bowmen squads will be aiming to do that in back-to-back matches.

The Sherwood girls will host Benson at 1 p.m. on Saturday and the Sherwood boys will likely also face Benson, at 3 p.m., in Class 5A play-in matches to be held at Sherwood High School.

The Lady Bowmen, who won the Northwest Oregon Conference title, are 14-0 on the season. Benson, the No. 4 team out of the Portland Interscholastic League, is 4-8 on the season.

The Sherwood girls completed their regular-season schedule Tuesday with a 5-0 home win over Milwaukie.

Senior Teegan Koster scored two goals in the victory while junior Jessica Imbrie had one goal and one assist.

The shutout, recorded by junior goalies Kyeli Hendryx and Mikaela Doherty, was the sixth straight and 11th on the season for the Lady Bowmen.

Last Thursday, the Sherwood girls won 9-0 at Parkrose. Freshman forward Sarah Garoutte had two goals in the victory and junior Meghan Schoen had four assists.

The Sherwood boys, who placed second in the final NWOC standings, bring an overall mark of 9-3-2 into Saturday's match. Benson, the No. 5 team out of the PIL, is 4-7-1 on the season.

The Bowmen finished their regular season schedule with a 2-0 win at Milwaukie on Tuesday.

Juniors Zach Milligan and Nathan Anderson each scored for Sherwood in the victory.

The winners of Saturday's play-in matches at Sherwood advance to play in the Class 5A state playoffs, which start with first-round games on Tuesday.
