Rollover crash injures two

   Oregon State Police is continuing the investigation into Friday afternoon's single-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 218 east of Shaniko that seriously injured two people.
   On Oct. 5, at 4:10 p.m., a 2010 Nissan four-door driven by Heinrich Ahrens, 89, from Damascus, was westbound on Highway 218 near milepost 1 when it drifted onto the soft shoulder and down about a 10-foot embankment. The car rolled numerous times coming to rest on its top.
   Ahrens and his wife, passenger Helena Ahrens, 83, were extricated by fire personnal and transported by separate air ambulances to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend for treatment.
   According to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend, the male driver is in fair condition and his wife was treated and released.
   OSP Trooper Zachary Bohince from The Dalles Area Command office is the lead investigator. Wasco County Sheriff's Office, Sherman County Sheriff's Office, South Sherman Fire and Rescue, and ODOT responded to the scene to assist.
