    The Culver City Council will conduct two public hearings beginning at 7:00 p.m. on October 17, 2012, in the City Council Chambers of the Culver City Hall. The purpose of the first public hearing is to consider a Comprehensive Plan/Zoning Map amendment on behalf of Round Butte Seed Growers to redesignate a portion of their property from Commercial C-1 and Residential R-2 to Industrial M-1 to accommodate their existing operations. The property is located between Fifth and Sixth Streets in the City and is described as Tax Lots 700, 800, 5500, 5501, 5503, 5600, and 5700 on Jefferson County Assessor's Map 12S-13E-18DA. Copies of the application and related materials are available at City Hall.
    The second public hearing concerns a minor amendment to the City's Zoning Ordinance to allow improvements to the City's Wastewater Treatment Plant as an outright permitted use in the Industrial Zone (M-1).

    The Jefferson County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to consider the adoption of an ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY TO ENTER INTO AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT UNDER ORS CHAPTER 190 AND RATIFYING THE CREATION OF AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL ENTITY KNOWN AS FRONTIER REGIONAL 9-1-1 AGENCY AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY". This ordinance ratifies the creation of an intergovernmental entity for the purpose of consolidating emergency services communications between Gilliam, Jefferson, Sherman and Wheeler counties. The hearing will be held on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM, in the Board of Commissioners Meeting Room. This will be the time and place for all interested persons to appear and present testimony on the proposed ordinance. A copy of the proposed ordinance is available for inspection at the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners Office located at 66 SE "D" Street, Madras, Oregon.

    The City of Madras is currently accepting "letters of interest" for a vacancy on the Madras City Council. A qualified candidate must be at least 18 years of age, a registered voter, and a resident of the City of Madras for a minimum of one year. This is a volunteer position and the hours involved can be long and demanding. The benefit of being on the City Council is the ability to make a difference in this community today and far into the future.
    The individual that is selected to fill the position will be completing an unexpired term which will not expire until December 31, 2014.
