Cowdeo cuts morning event

Only one performance at 4 p.m.
Kids on bucking sheep and calves is part of the fun at the 44th annual Cowdeo, held Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds.
   This year, there will only be one performance at 4 p.m. The 10 a.m. performance has been cancelled.
   Events are divided by age group.
   Pee Wee: (5-6 years) sheep riding; (6-8 years) barrel racing, flag race, goat decorating, horseless-roping, and calf roping.
   Junior: (9-11 years) barrel racing, flag race, calf riding, horseless-roping, breakaway roping.
   Senior: (12-14 years) barrel racing, flag racing, breakaway roping, calf and cow riding.
   All kids, age 5 and under, can join in on the free stick horse race at both events, and the chicken and rabbit scramble at the 4 p.m. performance.
   Admission is $5 per person, and free for those age 4 and younger.
   Proceeds from the Cowdeo go to benefit the Jefferson County Fire Volunteers, Culver Parent Teacher Organization, St. Patrick's Catholic Church Youth Group, Jefferson County Horse 4-H, and the Jefferson County Fair Complex.
