Volunteer Betty Hale was honored with the Juniper Junction Community Council Naomi Jacks 2012 Volunteer of the Year award, at the organization's Oct. 8 open house.
"Betty is dedicated to our wish list. She enjoys going around to thrift stores, etc., to find good used clothes and toys for our clothes closet, with yet another box ready to be brought over at this moment," said Juniper Junction executive director Tryna Muilenburg.
Hale has donated diapers and wipes, and convinced Vern Sampels Landscaping to donate a new lawn for the center.
She and a friend built a sturdy picnic table for the children to use outside, and donated an adult picnic table in the yard.
She also convinced the Crooked River Ranch Garden Club to donate $200, which will be spent on the center's flower garden. Hale donated a rocking horse and water table to the program, and provided a table for the center's TV.
"Betty is passionate about the relief nursery mission that focuses on children and families in need," Muilenburg said.
