Quilters of Jefferson County are invited to design quilts inspired by the books of Community Read author William L. Sullivan, and display them at the Art Adventure Gallery in Madras for the month of April 2013. Other public showings are also being arranged.
To help get started, there will be a brainstorming session for interested quilters on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m., in the Rodriguez Annex of the Jefferson County Library.
Sandy Feigner will be the facilitator and this will be appropriate for all levels of quilting ability. Bring projects, ideas, and questions.
This project is sponsored by the 2013 Jefferson County Community Read Program for the April 19-21 visit of Oregon author William L. Sullivan.
"Listening for Coyote: a Walk across Oregon's Wilderness," and "Cabin Fever: Notes from a Part-Time Pioneer," his two books that will be featured, are rich with inspiration from Oregon landscapes and the flora, fauna, geology and history, and include the building of a log cabin.
A commitment to participate will need to be made by Jan. 7, 2013. Quilts will need to be delivered to the Art Adventure Gallery the week of March 11-15, 2013.
Books will be available for sale at the brainstorming session or can be purchased anytime at both the Jefferson County Library and the Warm Springs Library for $15 each. Books are available for checkout at both libraries.
