A Warm Springs man, Nathan Craig, has been sentenced to 37 months in prison for abusive sexual contact.
According to Craig Gabriel, assistant U.S. attorney, Nathan Craig was 17 at the time of the incident, which occurred on May 10, 2010, and involved an 18-year-old female.
Craig was sentenced to an additional 11 months in tribal custody, to be followed by a one-year term of supervised release. U.S. District Judge Ancer L. Haggerty sentenced Craig on Sept. 17 in U.S. District Court in Portland.
"The rates of sexual assault against tribal women are unacceptably high and the U.S. Attorney's Office is committed to prosecuting those who abuse tribal women," said Gabriel.
