Parade, events slated to mark Veterans Day

Veteran's Day Parade: American Legion Post 125 and the Ladies Auxiliary Post 125 are planning to hold what they believe is the first Veterans Day Parade in Madras in 30 years.
The parade will be held on Veterans Day, Sunday, Nov. 11.
Entries should line up at 1:30 p.m. at 10th and D streets, and the parade begins at 2 p.m.
The parade will follow the Fourth of July route down 10th Street to B Street and around Sahalee Park.

Flags Fly: American flags will fly, weather permitting, in downtown Madras thanks to the Madras Lions Club, and at Mount Jefferson Memorial Park Cemetery, thanks to the Madras Elks Lodge.
JCMS Assembly: Jefferson County Middle School invites all current and retired veterans to its Veterans Assembly at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, in the main gym. JCMS will also hold a parade at 3:05 p.m. to honor veterans.
Veterans Dinner: The Madras Elks Lodge will hold a free dinner for all veterans and their spouses at 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 11, at the lodge.
Free meal: All veterans are invited to enjoy a free meal (breakfast, lunch or dinner) at Black Bear Diner in Madras, on Sunday, Nov. 11, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Free driver classes: The AARP Driver Safety course is offering free classes to veterans during the month of November. The next Madras class will be Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the Jefferson County Senior Center. Call 541-475-1148 to enroll. Dependents of veterans are also eligible.
