Bauman to instruct Madras welding class
For students and adults
A welding class for adults and high school students is being offered winter term at the Central Oregon Community College Madras Campus.
The class, "MFG 103: Welding I," which will be held from 5-8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Jan. 7 through March 22, at the Madras High School shop, includes three hours of college credit.
It is being offered through the collaboration of COCC, the Partnership to End Poverty, OSU Open Campus, and the 509-J School District.
Tucker Bauman will instruct this introductory course covering basic welding processes. The class includes relevant safety topics and an introduction to shielded metal arc welding and gas metal arc welding.
Since it is a college credit course, students must pay a COCC application fee of $25 (one-time fee for new students), and tuition and fees of $341.25.
Current or returning COCC students may sign up for the class by calling 541-550-4100 or stopping by the COCC Madras Campus.
New students must enroll in the college by: completing the COCC application which is due Nov. 30, taking a required COCC placement test on Dec. 11, at 5:30 p.m., at COCC Madras, and attending an advising session with a Manufacturing Applied Technology Center advisor at 5:30 p.m., Dec. 18.
Ten scholarships for tuition are available through the Jefferson County Education Council. Scholarship applications are due Nov. 30, at 5 p.m., and can be turned in at the COCC Madras Campus office, 509-J School District Office, Culver High School counselor's office, or Madras High School counselor's office.
