Boys team sweeps quad meet

Girls win two of three
The Madras boys swim team won all three of its duals against Klamath Falls high schools Thursday at the Madras Aquatic Center.
   The White Buffalos picked up a 114-49 win against Henley, 117-42 win against the Klamath Union Pelicans and capped off the day with a 138-17 win against Mazama.
   The girls team, meanwhile, won two of three duals. They lost to Henley, 99-66, but picked up wins against Klamath Union, 88-46, and Mazama, 92-43.
   Top finishers for the boys team were Ian Goodwin, Bryce Williams and Jordan Gemelas.
   Goodwin won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1 minute, 53.72 seconds and the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:07.31.
   He was also part of two winning relay teams for the Buffs, the 400 freestyle and the 200 medley relay.
   Williams was on the 400 freestyle team and won the 100 freestyle, edging KU's Marich Sikes, with a time of 52.7 seconds.
   Gemelas was on both winning relay teams and he won the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:14.75.
   For the girls, Aurora Gerhardt won the 100 backstroke (1:05.67) and placed second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 58.15.
   Sophie Gemelas won the 200 yard freestyle with her time of 2:07.63.
   The team will swim in St. Helens this weekend.
