Culver takes fourth in Halsey

Madras places a couple in Redmond
The Culver wreslting team earned a fourth-place finish at the Central Linn Invitational in Halsey on Saturday behind three champions, including a first-time title winner.
   The Bulldogs scored 157 points to fall in behind Waldport (177), Central Linn (200) and meet champion Class 4A Cottage Grove (216).
   For the first time in his career, Culver 195-pounder Mitch Adams claimed a tournament championship, while teammates Bolt Anglen (132) and Jared Kasch (126) each won a title as well.
   Kyle Belanger scored a second-place finish for the Bulldogs at 160 pounds, and Levi Vincent placed third at 145 pounds.
   Culver hits the mat again Friday at the Roseburg Duals when they take on Vashon Island, Wash. in the first match.
   Vasquez runner-up at Ridgeview tournament
   Madras' Miguel Vasquez led the White Buffalos with a runner-up finish at 138 pounds during the Adrian Irwin Invitational, held Saturday at Ridgeview High School in Redmond.
   Vasquez met Crook County's Collbran Meeker in the tournament final, but had to settle for the silver medal after the loss.
   Bryce Vincent continued his solid season with a fifth-place finish at 113 pounds, knocking off Class 5A Cleveland wrestler Lah Htoo in the placing match.
   Jared Dupont placed sixth for the Buffs at 126 poounds. He fell to Class 6A Gresham wrestler Pat Anderson in the placing match.
   Madras ended the tournament with 78 points, 14 points clear of Class 1A Crane and 26 points behind Class 5A Bend.
   Crook County won the tournament going away with a whopping 426 points. Redmond finished second with 306, followed by Cascade with 246.5.
   The Buffs have this week off, then will compete in the Free-Berry Invitational in Pendleton.
