Originally started by five local families, Round Butte Seed has operated in Culver since 1961, and expanded, starting in 1999, to retail stores in Bend, Prineville, and Christmas Valley, serving local farmers and homeowners.
Two of the original families, the Macys and Carlsons, have remained as the owners of the company until the sale.
Helena Chemical Co., which began in 1957, is a national leader in agriculture distribution and formulation.
"Helena has retained all of Round Butte Seed employees in keeping with their philosophy of "people, products and knowledge" to assure continuity of the service you expect from Round Butte," Spaulding said.
"Round Butte Seed's owners and employees thank all of their many customers who have supported them for 52 years, and look forward to continued excellence in service and the opportunity to offer an expanded group of products and services," Spaulding added.
