Madras High School trap shooting club members and football team members both recently received HELP, the Charity, grant checks for $200 and $200 in matching food grant vouchers from Madras Figaro's Pizza owner Tom Hansen.
Athletic Director Rory Oster submitted the grant applications to provide much needed equipment and supplies for the trap club, and for helmet reconditioning to ensure the safety of student athletes for the football team.
Madras Figaro's Pizza supports HELP, the Charity, in which the letters stand for "Helping Education with Love and Pizza."
Hanson and staff want to show their support for local schools and the community by giving back. The grants are presented for school funding to assist in special projects, equipment, school supplies, or teaching programs.
In the first 24 months of existence, the national program has already issued 141 awards of grants totaling $31,092. Of this amount, $2,000 was presented by the Madras Figaro's to local schools and nonprofits.
A portion of customer purchases go towards HELP, the Charity, and 100 percent of that fund is distributed within the local communities and schools.
Grant applications are available at Figaro's or at www.figaros.com; click on "fundraising and charity" to print an application. Return completed applications to the store or fax to 551-475-5506.
