Murder victim is young boy
Update: Victim identifed 13-year-old Julio Cesar Marquez
Police are investigating a suspicious death in Northeast Portland.
Although police originally said the victim was 20, on Thursday they identified him as 13-year-old Julio Cesar Marquez. An autopsy determined he died of multiple gun shot wounds and blunt force trauma.
According to police, at 7:37 a.m., officers assigned to East Precinct responded to the report of a deceased individual in the 10700 block of Northeast Halsey Street.
After the officers arrived, they located a deceased person and established a crime scene. Homicide detectives and criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division will be conducting an investigation.
Traffic was shut down on Northeast 106th Avenue, south of Halsey, during the Monday morning rush hour.
