Two arrested for sexual assault near PSU
Victim uninjured in early Saturday attack
Portland police arrested two men for a sexual assault near Portland State University early Saturday morning.
Leslie Lee Thornton Jr., 30, was charged with Rape in the First Degree, Sodomy in the First Degree and Sex Abuse in the First Degree, and booked into the Multnomah County Jail.
Timothy Nathaniel Hogue, 21, was charged with Rape in the First Degree, and booked into the Multnomah County Jail.
The 43-year-old female victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. She was not physically injured during the assault. Police say the victim did not know the suspects and the assault appears to be a crime of opportunity.
According to police, at 12:38 a.m. on Nov. 5, Central Precinct officers responded to assist PSU Public Safety personnel at Southwest 10th Avenue and Market Street on a possible sexual assault investigation.
When the officers arrived, they learned that PSU employees has come across two men sexually assaulting a woman on the ground. The PSU employees were able to detain both suspects and wait for the officers to arrive.
Detectives from the Portland Police Bureau's Sex Crimes Unit are investigating the assault.
