Oregon State Police are continuing the investigation into the death of an elderly Tigard couple who crashed a pickup truck on a snowy stretch of road in rural Oregon north of Mt. Vernon on Friday.
According to Oregon State Police Trooper Cody Weaver, police first responded to the crash at about 2:25 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4.
Weaver said that George Fidler, 83, and his wife Madeline Fidler, 82, of Tigard were traveling north on a slush-covered portion of Highway 395 in rural Grant County when they lost control of their vehicle when as it came out of a curve.
The 1999 F250 pickup truck reportedly slid into the southbound lane of the highway, rolled onto its side and crashed into a large tree.
The tree crushed the top of the truck's cabin.
Medics pronounced the Fidlers dead at the scene. Their 58-year-old daughter Kathleen Crisman, of West Linn, was also in the truck. She was seated in the rear of the cabin and was not injured.
Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash,
The Grant County Sheriff's Office, Oregon Department of Transportation and the Mount Vernon Ambulance all responded to the scene.
