Hit and run driver strikes man on 217 onramp
Police say hit and run driver drove a carbon-gray 1998-2002 Honda.
Tigard police are looking for a driver who seriously injured a man on Highway 217 on Saturday.
Police say a 32-year-old Beaverton man was changing a flat tire in the shoulder of the onramp to northbound Highway 217 from southbound Pacific Highway early Saturday morning when a vehicle struck him and his car.
The vehicle did not stop, according to police spokesman Jim Wolf and the man was left in the shoulder of the road.
The man was found at about 3 a.m. by a roadside assistance employee, who was contacted a few minutes before the crash, Wolf said.
The man was taken to OHSU. His name was not released and his condition is unknown, though police did describe the man's injuries as "serious."
Police are asking for help in finding the driver.
Vehicle parts strewn in the area of the scene indicate the driver's car is a carbon-gray colored Honda Accord made between 1998-2002, Wolf said.
Wolf said that the suspect's vehicle will have damage to the passenger side front fender and bumper.
