Sherwood Varsity Black 46, Beaverton Black 28
Revenge was sweet for Sherwood Varsity Black beating Beaverton Black in the championship game, 46-28 at Jeld-Wen Field, since in week five Beaverton came to Sherwood and won 28-13. This memorable day as players wore their 'I'VE GOT YOUR BACK.' t-shirts.
One of the key contributors to the Knight's 9-1 record was Devon Chesbrough, who played on the both lines and the scout squad. In the fourth quarter of this game he ran for a critical first down. In recognition of his contributions, the coaches awarded Devon the Black Knight jersey.
These teams were evenly matched. Sherwood's offense racked up a total of 302 yards, 267 rushing and 35 yards passing with 12 first downs. Beaverton had 308 total yards, 78 rushing and 230 passing with 12 first downs. Contributing to Sherwood's rushing total were Brendon Wexted-Hand (118 yards), Austin Shadbolt (54 yards), Gage Fuller (43 yards), TJ Toivonen (23 yards), Bradley West (15 yards), Bryce Aiello (5 yards) and Chesbrough (5 yards). Sandis Chhay threw passes to Nikolas Blake, Lukas Adams and Shadbolt.
The Knight's leading tacklers were: Chhay (5), Brendon Gatlin (5), Shadbolt (5), Adam Vasquez (5), Fuller (3), Logan Shelton (3), and Wexted-Hand (3). Critical fumbles recovers were made by Ryan Milligan and Adams.
For the boys, ending their youth football career as champions is awesome. Thank you coaches Hollin, Brooks, Alley, Hagen, Haimoto, and Chhay.
