Milton Eugene Gene Stephenson

Gene Stephenson was born in Rock Falls, Ill., on Sept. 15, 1932 to Floyd E. and Bessie E. Stephenson. He died at his home in Woodburn on Aug. 3, 2013.
Genes family moved to Oregon when he was 3 years old and homesteaded in the Meadowbrook area outside Molalla. His family logged and raised goats. He attended school in Molalla and graduated from Molalla High School in 1951.
He enlisted in the Navy in 1951 and honorably served 20 years, including in Korea and Vietnam. Upon retiring from the Navy in 1971, he managed an electronics store for a while before becoming a machinist. He worked at a diving board company, a ladder company and a plastics machine shop before retiring to enjoy his golden years.
His hobby was making string instruments in his garage. He was active with the Old Time Fiddlers, the Luthiers Guild, American Legion and the Christ Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, two daughters, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a brother, an aunt, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ray Ezel Philpot

Ray Ezel Philpot passed away Aug. 10, 2013. He was 87 years old.
He was born in Stigler, Okla., and son of Lee and Mamie Philpot of Molalla. Ray had three brothers: Jack and wife Ramona, Gerald and wife Lois Philpot, Norman and wife Yvonne Philpot; and one sister, Bernice and husband Charles Austin.
Ray is survived by his wife Loragene Rose. Ray was married to Loragene for 65 years.
hey have six grown children: Diana and husband Robert Hoober, Larry Philpot, Debbie and husband Kevin Williams, Linda and husband Greg Rieder, Mike and wife Laurie Philpot and Mark Philpot. There are five grandchildren: Jason Wood, Dustin Philpot, Chantell Philpot, Tyler Philpot and Marque Philpot. There are two great-grandchildren: Celeste and Noah Wood.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17 at Woodburn Foursquare Church, 1175 E. Lincoln St., Woodburn.

Norma Gallagher, 86, of Molalla and formerly of Woodburn, was born Jan. 8, 1927, in Birmingham, Ala., and passed away Aug. 7, 2013.
Her husband Joseph Gallagher preceded her in death.
Her memorial will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 704 Patrol St. in Molalla, on Aug. 17 at 2 p.m.
