School Notes • Input sought to fill Forest Grove board vacancies

What qualities do community members want to see in two new board members to replace Anna Tavera-Weller and Terry Howell, who were recalled earlier this month?

The school board will soon determine a process and timeline for selecting their successors, but suggestions are welcome. Citizens can submit their preferences for candidate characteristics and questions they'd like to see the board ask.

Gaston High thespians stage 'A Christmas Carol'

Ebeneezer Scrooge is coming to Gaston High School in 'A Christmas Carol' by Charles Dickens. Shows are Friday, Dec. 9 and Saturday, Dec. 10 at 7:07 p.m. in the Old Gym. Two more performances are set Dec. 16 and 17. Adult tickets, available at the door, are $5 and student and senior tickets are $3. Active duty military are free. Senior William Lewis has the title role of Scrooge. Bob Cratchit is played by Arlo Gann. Seniors Christina Spry, Sarah Monares and Terra LeGan play the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, respectively. Mrs. Cratchit is played by senior Kelsey Reynolds, and Jacob Marley is played by Jon Briedenbach. This all-district production includes 47 student actors from first through 12th grade and a stage crew headed by stage manager Skylar Butler. The Dec. 10 performance will be a fundraiser for Gaston's Outdoor School program, which lost its district funding this year.
