Donald Eddy Pierce

Gresham resident Donald Eddy Pierce died Saturday, Nov. 12. He was 86.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 S.E. Mt. Scott Blvd., Happy Valley.
Donald was born March 30, 1925, in Bellows Falls, Vt., to Edward and Ethel Pierce. He was raised and educated in Saxons River and Bellows Falls. After graduating from high school, he attended Texas A and M University.
Donald served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation electronic technician's mate from 1943 to 1947. He married Evelyn Marie Marston on June 8, 1947, in Gresham.
Donald was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He enjoyed tinkering with boats, organ playing, music, aviation, camping, fishing and woodworking. He was a kind, gentle and respectable dad and was a loyal and devoted husband.
Survivors include his wife; son, David Pierce of Gresham; and daughter, Donna Seaton of Bend.

Betty Frances Kelly

Longtime Gresham resident Betty Frances Kelly died Sunday, Nov. 20, at her home. She was 90.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Gresham Memorial Chapel, 257 S.E. Roberts Ave.

Longtime Gresham and East County resident Marybelle Duff died Thursday, Nov. 17, in Portland. She was 88.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at Good Shepherd Community Church, 28986 S.E. Haley Road, Boring. Private interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery in Happy Valley.
Marybelle was born April 1, 1923, in Silverton to Lloyd and Leila Heinz. She was raised in Scotts Mill and graduated from Scotts Mill High School in 1941. Marybelle married Melville Duff on Sept. 17, 1944, at the Silverton Church of Christ in Silverton.
The couple moved to Boring, where they resided for nearly 20 years. In 1972, they built a home in Gresham, where they lived until the mid-1980s. Following Melville's death on Feb. 19, 1992, Marybelle moved to Portland.
Marybelle worked as a beautician for a time and also sold Avon. She was kindhearted and cared for many, but will be remembered best as an amazing homemaker. Marybelle was a wonderful seamstress and made many wedding dresses and clothing for family and friends. She also enjoyed knitting, canning, cooking and entertaining her friends and family. Marybelle was a fine Christian lady and will be dearly missed by all who new and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Secrest. Survivors include her son, Ken Duff of Damascus; daughter, Kathie Duff of Milwaukie; brothers, Lloyd Heinz Jr. of Wilsonville and Elvin Heinz of Scotts Mill; sister, Caroline Jensen of Mulino; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
