Jesuit to face Lake Oswego next in semifinals
The Metro League co-champion Jesuit football team (9-3) will face Three Rivers League champion Lake Oswego (12-0) in the semifinal round of the Class 6A state playoffs at noon Saturday at Jeld-Wen Field.
The winner will mee the victor of the Sheldon vs. Central Catholic semifinal in the Class 6A state championship at 1 p.m. Dec. 10 at Jeld-Wen Field.
Lucas Jepson, Josh Hill honored at Linfield
Westview High graduate Josh Hill and Aloha grad Lucas Jepson both played big roles in the Linfield football team's successful 2011 campaign.
Hill, a junior running back, won first-team All-Northwest Confer-ence honors after leading the Wildcats in rushing with 942 yards and nine touchdowns on 194 carries.
Jepson, a junior wide receiver, was named to the All-NWC second team after leading Linfield receivers with 35 catches for 661 yards and nine scores.
Together, that duo helped the Wildcats to win the Northwest Conference, advance to the second round of the NCAA III playoffs and end 2011 at 10-1.
Jesuit grad Porter lifts Walla Walla volleyball
Jesuit High graduate Sydney Porter, who just finished her freshman year as a libero on the Walla Walla Community College volleyball team, helped the Warriors to a second-place finish in the NWAACC Championships.
Porter helped lead Walla Walla to a 35-10 record and the team's fifth final four appearance in the last eight years.
For the year, Porter recorded 12 service aces, 229 digs (a 2.44 digs per game average), and a 2.01 serve receive rating.
