Beaverton rings in holidays on Friday

Tree Lighting and Holiday Open House - On Friday, Dec. 2, starting at 5 p.m., the city of Beaverton will host a variety of events ringing in the holiday season. The festivities begin with a Holiday Open House at Beaverton City Library, 12375 S.W. Fifth St., featuring a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, music by the Beaverton Community Band and a children's holiday craft workshop. The party will then move across the street to City Park at 6 with entertainment provided by Radio Disney and the Arts and Communication Magnet Academy student choir. It continues at 7 with the tree lighting. New, unwrapped toys and gift cards will be collected during this event to benefit local low-income youths and foster children. Families can head back over to the library at 8 for Beaverton Civic Theatre's 'Happy Hollandaise!' performance. Warm clothing is encouraged.
