Bridge electrical work closes I-5 north Sunday morning
- Portland Tribune - News
Electrical work will close Interstate 5 north just prior to the Marquam Bridge Sunday morning.
The highway will be closed from 5 a.m. to noon so electrical crews can replace the wiring system to lights on the south side of the bridge's upper deck. Closing I-5 northbound prior to the Marquam Bridge will keep drivers from entering the work zone.
Oregon Department of Transportation crews will perform the same work on the north side of the upper deck of the Marquam Bridge in mid-December. That work will require closing access from I-405 southbound to I-5 northbound.
During the closure, northbound drivers on I-5 will be detoured to Interstate 405 northbound and cross the Fremont Bridge to re-join I-5 north of downtown.
Drivers heading for Interstate 84 eastbound from I-5 northbound will take the I-405 detour, take the I-5 southbound off-ramp, and continue on I-5 southbound to the I-84 eastbound off-ramp (exit 301).
Access from I-405 southbound to I-5 northbound will remain open.
