Portland police seize 5 pounds of heroin at Gresham apartment
Couple face charges of child neglect, possession
Police seized 5 pounds of heroin - some of it hidden in a diaper trashcan and in a child's slipper - from a Gresham apartment.
Maria Gonzalez-Torres and Jose M. Lizarraras-Chacon, both 37, are being held on $280,000 bail at the Multnomah County Inverness Jail and the Multnomah County Detention Center on eight counts of first-degree child neglect, plus allegations of delivery, manufacturing and possession of heroin.
They also are being held on no-bail United States immigration holds.
Portland police arrested the couple at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at their apartment, located at East Burnside Road and 179th Avenue, said Sgt. Pete Simpson, Portland Police Bureau spokesman.
In addition to the drugs, police reportedly seized $84,000 and a loaded gun, and took the couple's four children into protective custody.
