Prankster sets off sprinkler, evacuates WLHS
An unknown prankster melted and set off a fire sprinkler in the football locker room at West Linn High School, causing a school evacuation Monday.
Some students thought it was just a routine fire drill.
According to the Dec. 5 police report, the sprinklers were set off at 9:35 a.m., flooding to the locker room floor and causing a yet undetermined amount of damage, according to Sgt. Neil Hennelly.
Setting off the sprinklers and initiating a false report constitutes criminal mischief and the culprit could face low-grade misdemeanor to C felony charges, according to Hennelly. If a flame was used to set off the sprinkler, then the crime is automatically a C felony, he added.
Principal Lou Bailey was unavailable for comment as of press time.
