Lake Oswego police have arrested five local teenage boys and lodged them at a juvenile detention center on charges of first-degree burglary and theft.
The first boy was arrested Monday after a residential burglary was reported in the 1500 block of Southwest Maple Street, Lake Oswego Police Capt. Dale Jorgensen said. A handgun, money and knives were missing. It was unclear exactly when the items had disappeared, but authorities believe they were stolen sometime over the past three weeks.
Detectives then determined additional teens were involved in the case. The boys entered the Maple Street home on two other occasions to steal cash, knives and fishing equipment, according to police.
The stolen gun and other items were recovered and the four other suspects were arrested on Wednesday.
Jorgensen said juvenile counselors and court officials will now determine what happens next with the boys.
