Beavers' Casey recuperating from rooftop fall
Oregon State baseball coach Pat Casey is recuperating from a fall off a rooftop last Wednesday.
Casey fell from the roof of the Corvallis home of his son, Brett, breaking the wrist and a finger on his right arm.
'I'm OK, doing just fine,' Casey said Wednesday night. 'It was pretty scary, tough.'
Casey was helping with repairs when he stepped on a knot on a roof board, which collapsed, sending Casey to the pavement below. He hit his head during the fall, but never lost consciousness and checked out OK with doctors in a visit to the emergency room at Good Samaritan Hospital.
The OSU coach had pins and a plate inserted for stability for the wrist. He'll wear a cast for several more weeks, he said, and the plate will be removed after a year.
'I'm lucky,' Casey said. 'Could have been a lot worse.'
