Multnomah County to train more urban farmers
Applications open for 2012 apprenticeships
Multnomah County is about to graduate its first 'crop' of organic farming students in its Beginning Urban Farmer Apprenticeship program, and is taking applicants for the next round in 2012.
The county hopes to inspire more people to take up organic farming in smaller urban lots. The first 11 program participants will complete the program on Dec. 20 and receive graduation certificates during the Multnomah County Board of Commissioners briefing.
Applications for the next round are due Jan. 15. For more information, check the Portland Tribune story about the program, at www.portlandtribune.com/news/story.php?story_id=130998892399638100, or http://web.multco.us/sustainability/bufa.
