St. Aidan to host Christmas services
St. Aidan Episcopal Church, 17405 N.E. Glisan St., offers the following Christmas services.
• 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18: Wigglers' Mass for families with children, celebrates the incarnation of Jesus Christ through readings and carols.
• 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18: Lessons, readings and carols for Advent and Christmas. This service is based on the traditional Nine Lessons and Carols from Kings College Cambridge but with a twist. Scriptural readings, contemporary commentary and poetry tell the story of the birth of Christ. Favorite and familiar Christmas carols will be sung.
• 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 24: Carol sing and Eucharist of the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Celebrate the birth of Jesus in word and song.
Instrumentalists from the Mt. Hood Pops Orchestra and Reynolds High School will join St. Aidan's choir and wind and string ensemble. For more information, call Mark Jones, choirmaster and organist, at 503-252-6128.
Chamber breakfast to aid charities
Three Gresham-area nonprofits will benefit from the annual Christmas Breakfast fundraiser sponsored by the Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce at 7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at Greater Gresham Baptist Church, 3848 N.E. Division St.
The event traditionally has benefited SnowCap Community Charities, but this year My Father's House and Human Solutions will also share the funds raised.
In addition to breakfast, there will be Christmas music from a youth choir as well as a carol sing-along.
Donors can help Christmas Child online
Folks who wish to participate in Operation Christmas Child, which delivers gifts to impoverished children worldwide, can do so online through the end of this month.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse. Recently, Mountainview Christian Church in Gresham served as a drop-off site for the annual international drive.
