Lions do well at 10-team wrestling tournament

St. Helens finishes in seventh place overall
The St. Helens Lions had several wrestlers place well at the 10-team Tualatin Tournament on Saturday.
The tournament was bracketed like the state tournament with two wrestlers from each team allowed. Overall the Lions finish seventh with 145 points.
'It was a 10-team tournament and it was a good test for us,' coach Mike McCoy said. 'Everyone wrestled hard and overall it was a good outing. I really liked the performance of Michael Zacharias (152), and Gabe Farmer (220). We are working hard in practice and they have a great attitude.
Top finisher for St. Helens was Jonah Asher in second place at 182 pounds. Jerek Pense and Michael Zacharias were both third in the 152-pound weight, and Gabe Famer was third at 220. Fifth places were recorded by Jessie Vanderwall at 113, Jon Luttrell at 138, and Dustin Ford at 182. Seventh places were posted by Cole Snider at 106, Andrew Duggan at 138, Zilen Nicholes at 170, and Brady Johnson at 285.
