Longtime West Linn resident Wayne Edward Spray died Dec. 5, 2011. He was 87.
Mr. Spray was born April 30, 1924, to Roma and Ruth Spray in Chelan, Wash.
He left school to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1942 through 1945 at Guadalcanal and Bougainville.
Mr. Spray married Glenna Fae DeWalt on June 11, 1944. The couple lived briefly in Manson, Wash., and Baker, Ore., before settling in West Linn.
Mr. Spray worked at the Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill, the Oregon City Police Department, Pierce Freight Lines and other trucking companies until he retired in 1984. He also volunteered with the West Linn Fire Dept. and spent eight years with the Oregon National Guard.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Glenna, sisters Eunice Lewis of Chelan, Wash., and Genevieve Knorr of Spokane, Wash., children Donna M. Schmutzler, Janice L. Rushing, Douglas W. Spray and Rodney G. Spray, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services have been held.

Carl Leonard Schaber died Nov. 22, 2011, of natural causes. He was 94.
Mr. Schaber was born Aug. 10, 1918, in rural Stafford to Emma and Leonard Schaber. He grew up in the Stafford area.
He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on Jan. 5, 1942, and was discharged Nov. 3, 1945.
He was a farmer.
Mr. Schaber married Elsie Emma Eckert Feb. 13, 1954, in West Linn. She preceded him in death Oct. 21, 2008.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda Unti of Healdsburg, Calif., and son, Michael Hellberg of West Linn, grandson, Gregory Hellberg of Oregon City, and three great-grandchildren.
A private celebration of life was held at the Oregon City Elks Lodge. Interment was at Lake Oswego Pioneer Cemetery.

Rev. Gary Olson
Gary R. Olson died Nov. 25, 2011. He was 76.
Rev. Olson was born May 23, 1935, in Mendota, Ill. He graduated from Mendota High School and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1953 through 1956.
Following his military service, he earned a bachelor's degree from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, and a master's degree in divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. As an ordained Lutheran minister, he served at Central Lutheran Church in Spokane, Wash., and at West Linn Lutheran Church from 1967 through 1993.
Rev. Olson married Anita Long in 1960 and they had two daughters, Brenda and Pam.
While living in West Linn, Rev. Olson was a member of the West Linn School Board, West Linn Public Library Board and Lions Club. He was the chaplain of the police department and enjoyed playing golf, reading and spending time with his family. For 25 years, he was a member of the Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby.
Survivors include his wife, Anita, daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Jon Hummelt of Portland and Pam and Bill Raschko of Albany, and five grandchildren.
Services have been held at West Linn Lutheran Church.
