Squad stays close in first half, then stumbles in second

The St. Helens Lady Lions put up a good battle for the first half, but couldn't stay with unbeaten Silverton in the second half of a pre-season game last week.

The Lady Lions were boosted by two threes and eight points from Jillian Ross in the first period and led 12-10 after one. They limited Silverton to just seven points in the second frame, but were unable to keep pace.

The Silver Foxes rolled out two 16-point quarters in the second half to put the game away.

Ross was in double figures for St. Helens with 11, while Monique Smiley added 10.

St. Helens was at Hood River Valley for a tournament on Monday and Tuesday this week.
