Neighbors chased down suspect who fled the scene
An Aloha man was arrested early Tuesday morning after the Jeep he was driving home crashed through a yard and into a fence.
The driver, John Clark, allegedly fled the scene, but witnesses caught and detained him. No one was apparently injured.
Washington County Sheriff's deputies arrested Clark, 42, on accusations of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, criminal mischief and hit-and-run.
Neighbors in the 5700 block of Southwest 192nd Avenue in Aloha said the Jeep that Clark was driving crashed into a fence at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, rendering the vehicle inoperable. When Clark learned a neighbor had called 911, he ran from the scene, said Sgt. Vance Stimler, sheriff's office spokesman.
Witnesses chased Clark, caught and detained him until sheriff's deputies arrived.
Deputies conducted an investigation and determined Clark was intoxicated. He was arrested and lodged in the Washington County Jail.
This is Clark's fourth arrest for DUII-related charges since 1997, Stimler said.
