Dental program awarded $30K in grants
Thanks to a $10,000 grant from Clackamas County and a two-year $20,000 grant from Providence Health and Services, the North Clackamas School District's Dental Health Solutions program will continue to serve students into the 2012-13 school year.
The grant-funded program offers a multi-faceted approach to supporting dental health for students. It provides dental hygiene instruction, dental screenings, and emergency dental care.
Research shows that at least 20 percent of district students have not seen a dentist in the past year. Through the Neighborhood Dentists Program, dental van visits by Medical Teams International, and Give Kids a Smile Day events, the program provides emergency dental care to hundreds of students.
