Lillie Mae Barlow

April 3, 1930-Dec. 16, 2011

Former Sandy resident Lillie Mae Barlow died Friday, Dec. 16, in Arimo, Idaho. She was 81.

Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Cliffside Cemetery, 15635 Ten Eyck Road.

Lillie was born April 3, 1930, in Mayfield, Okla., to Robert and Winnie (Ritchey) Minyard. The family migrated from Oklahoma in 1936. Lillie was raised in Sandy and graduated from Sandy High School as valedictorian. She resided in Sandy, Portland and Lake Oswego until the mid-1980s.

On Sept. 6, 1948, she married William L. Barlow.

Lillie was a homemaker. She was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as president of the primary and young women's youth groups. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her hobbies included genealogy.

Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1999.

Survivors include her sons, John Barlow of Philomath and Ray Barlow of Salem; daughters, Leslie Suva of Bandon and Marilyn Binger of Arimo; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations can be made to the Mormon Missionary Fund, 15 E. South Temple, Second Floor, East and #8232;Salt Lake City, Utah, 84150; or to a hospice of choice.

Horsley Funeral Home in Malad City, Idaho, is handling arrangements.

Charles 'Chuck' Bernard Holmes III

March 21, 1959-Dec. 18, 2011

Sandy resident Charles 'Chuck' Bernard Holmes III died Sunday, Dec. 18. He was 52.

A viewing will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Sandy Funeral Home, 39551 Pleasant St.

Chuck was born March 21, 1959, in Portland to Charles Jr. and Barbara (Bowers) Holmes. Chuck began his elementary education in Portland and finished his schooling in Corbett. He graduated from Corbett High School as valedictorian. Shortly after graduating, he entered the Army and served for eight years.

On Feb. 5, 1989, he married Maude Roberta Everett in Killeen, Texas. Later that year, they moved to Oregon and made their home in Gresham.

For the last several years, Chuck worked at the Fred Meyer Distribution Center in Clackamas. Chuck and Roberta moved to Sandy seven years ago.

Chuck had a great interest in radio-controlled cars. He enjoyed photography and taking pictures of his family.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Nathan Holmes of Gresham and Justin Holmes of Idaho; daughters, Annastasia Hester of Troutdale and Tonya Shollenbarger of Clackamas; mother, Barbara Brown of Portland; father, of Idaho; brother, Larry Holmes of Portland; sister, Vickey Walsborn of Gresham; grandmother, Doris Bowers of Portland; and five grandchildren with one expected in August.

Murlean Nakunz Lovell

April 14, 1930-Dec. 4, 2011

Former Sandy resident Murlean Nakunz Lovell died Sunday, Dec. 4, at her home in Myrtle Creek. She was 81.

No services were held.

Murlean was born April 14, 1930, in Wheaton, Mo., to

Lewis and Zoe (Richter) Wilson. She moved to Sandy in the 1940s and attended Sandy High School.

In 1946, she married Robert Nakunz. After Robert's death in 2001, Murlean moved to Myrtle Creek to be closer to her daughter. In 2003, she married Bill Lovell in Myrtle Creek.

Murlean was a homemaker. She worked at Heidi's restaurant in Boring for several years. She attended Sandy Assembly of God Church and volunteered at the Sandy Community Action Center.

Survivors include her husband; children, Nancy Kieffer of Myrtle Creek, Zoe Rasmussen of Orange Park, Fla., and Craig Nakunz of Oregon City; brothers, Robert Wilson of Woodstock, Ga., Lewis Wilson of Duluth, Ga., and Earl Wilson of Mobile, Ala.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Taylor's Family Chapel is handling arrangements.
