LAKE OSWEGO - Oregon's eighth grade all-star team continued successful in the Football University National Championship playoffs, routing Sunnyvale, Calif. 62-2 in a second-round game played here Saturday.
Conner Mitchell, a running back from Oregon City, starred in the game and earned co-MVP honors, along with Oregon quarterback Payton Pritchard.
Other local players on the Oregon all-star team include: Trevon Bradford (running back), Jordon Phillips (defensive back) and Samuel Maughan (wide receiver) from Oregon City; and Zach Masson (defensive line) and Aaron Dolfay (defensive line) from the Rex Putnam High School attendance area.
The Oregon all-stars were scheduled to host a Southern California area team today (Dec. 21) at 11:30 a.m. at Lake Oswego High School in the national quarterfinals. Should they win that game, they'll advance to the four-team national finals, scheduled the weekend of Jan. 7-8 in San Antonio, Tex.
