Large, Waller

Storm Large and Holcombe Waller are collaborating on two nights of entertainment at the Alberta Rose Theatre. On Dec. 30, Large puts on an acoustic concert along with a release party for her new book, 'Crazy Enough.' On Dec. 31, they play two New Year's Eve shows, with a balloon drop and champagne at midnight.

Oregon Symphony

The group's final performance of 2011 is led by resident conductor Gregory Vajda and features the Pacific Youth Choir under the direction of Mia Hall Savage. The holiday season favorites numbers include pieces from Bizet, Bach and Tchaikovsky's 'Nutcracker.'

'West Side Story'

The popular musical comes to Portland through Fred Meyer Broadway Across America, still going strong after more than 50 years of changing musical theatre. Arthur Laurents' Broadway direction is recreated for the tour by David Saint. The new Broadway cast album of 'West Side Story' won the Grammy Award for 'Best Musical Show Album' in 2010. The Bernstein and Sondheim score features such classics as 'Something's Coming,' 'Tonight,' 'America,' 'I Feel Pretty,' and 'Somewhere.'
