East County hosts a trio of holiday tourneys

Barlow Trail Classic brings a talented 6A field to town

The Barlow Trail Classic holiday basketball tournament brings some of 6A's top talent to East County for a three-day event beginning Wednesday, Dec. 28. The eight-team field includes a pair of state tournament teams from last season in West Linn and Roseburg, along with the Union Titans, who won Washington's 3A title in 2010.

The host Bruins also expect to be in the mix off to a 5-1 start with its only loss coming at the buzzer at Grant (7-1).

'This will be our 11th year, and it's become a fun event for our community,' Barlow coach Tom Johnson said. 'It's a chance to stay near home and still enjoy some quality basketball.'

Gresham High is hosting a girls holiday tournament also starting Wednesday (see first-round matchups below).
