Police from Portland's East Precinct responded to two gun-related crimes on Christmas day.
According to police, an ambulance was called to a residence in the 2800 block of Southeast 90th Place at 4:31 p.m. on Dec. 25. When it arrived, the medical workers found a man who had been shot and they called police. The shooting victim was taken to an area hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim is identified as Damajio Louis. 20. Because the victim is a designated gang member, the Gang Enforcement Team began to investigate the shooting. The Forensic Evidence Division also responded to process the scene.
Police believe the shooting occurred at a different location. They are also investigating the possibility the shooting could have been accidental.
About an hour and a half later, East Precinct officers responded to a call of an armed robbery at the AM/PM market at Southeast 161st Avenue and Division Street. When they arrived, the officers found that the market had been robbed by a man with a handgun.
According to police, the suspect came into the market with a note and was armed with a black handgun in the front of his waistband. He is described as a white man about 25 years old, with a thin build and short blond hair. He was last seen wearing black pants and a black jacket. His face was covered at the time of the robbery.
The suspect left the store and walked west on Division Street with an undisclosed amount of money.
No arrests have been made. The investigation is continuing.
