Clear Creek to award four scholarships for 2012
Clear Creek Communications will give out four awards in 2012 for the cooperative's annual scholarship program.
Established in 1988, the 'Subscriber Endowment Scholarship Award' benefits members of Clear Creek Communications by providing financial assistance for students pursuing a higher education in an accredited college or technical school. Since the program's inception, 54 awards totaling $110,000 have been awarded.
Clear Creek's board of directors annually determines the amount of scholarship awards to be distributed. For 2012, the board has authorized four scholarships in the amount of $2,500 each for local students.
Candidates for scholarship awards must meet certain eligibility requirements, which include being a subscriber of Clear Creek's telephone, cable television service or broadband Internet service, and maintaining a 'B' average in the most recent three quarters or two semesters of high school.
Applications for scholarship awards are available at Clear Creek Communications' website ccmtc.com/community_scholarship.cfm. The deadline for completed applications is March 1, 2012.
A committee appointed by the board will meet and select four recipients at a special meeting held shortly after the deadline.
As a member of two national telecommunications associations, Clear Creek Communications cooperative members may be eligible to apply for two other college scholarship programs.
