Tigard boys go unbeaten in home tournament

TIGARD - The Tigard High School boys basketball team wrapped up a 3-0 performance at the Tigard Holiday Classic it hosted by scoring a 76-72 win over Sheldon in a tournament game played Dec. 21 at Tigard High School.
With the win, the Tigers improved to 5-3 on the season.
Junior post Sam Stelk led the way for the Tigers in the victory with 21 points. Junior guard Evan Garrison added 17 points and senior post Shai Gray scored 12.
Prior to the win over Sheldon, Tigard posted a 52-36 tournament victory over Sprague in a game played Dec. 20 at Tigard High School.
Stelk had 14 points in that game. Garrison scored 13 and senior wing Nick Vollstedt had 10.
The Tigers will open their Pacific Conference schedule Tuesday when they play at Forest Grove at 7:15 p.m.
The Tualatin High School boys basketball team finished up play at the Lakeside Holiday Classic with a 61-54 loss to North Medford in a tourney game played Dec. 21 at Lakeridge High School.
Senior post Brody Richter scored 13 points for the Wolves in that contest. Senior guard Nathan Suyematsu added 12 points.
The Loss gives Tualatin a season record of 4-4.
The Wolves will be back in action tonight (Thursday) when they host Clackamas in a non-league game starting at 7:15 p.m.
Tualatin will open Pacific Conference play Tuesday when it travels to McMinnville for a 7:15 p.m. contest.
The Horizon Christian boys and girls basketball teams open play at the Salem Academy Tournament today.
The Horizon Christian girls will face either Portland Christian or Western Mennonite today at noon today. The Horizon Christian boys will play either Portland Christian or Western Mennonite today at 1:30 p.m.
The tournament runs through Friday.
