Rattie leads Hawks in wild 7-6 win over Victoria

Ty Rattie had three goals and four points Friday night as the Portland Winterhawks beat the Victoria Royals 7-6 for their 11th consecutive home win.
With his third hat trick of the season, Rattie upped his Western Hockey League-leading point total to 67 before a crowd of 8.836.
Rattie also leads the WHL in goals with 36.
Portland (23-11-2-1) swept two games in three nights versus Victoria (12-22-2-2) and now plays host to Seattle at 8 p.m. Saturday in the annual New Year's Eve game at the Rose Garden.
The Hawks and Royals were tied 2-2 after one period Friday. The teams combined for seven goals in the second period. Victoria led 4-2 before Portland rallied with three goals in a 1:22 span, as Brendan Leipsic and Tyler Wotherspoon scored 11 seconds apart and then Rattie got his hat trick goal against former Hawk Keith Hamilton in goal for Victdoria.
Victoria came back to take a 6-5 lead late in the second period.
Leipsic evened the count early in the third frame, and Derrick Pouliot scored 1:33 later with what would be the game-winner.
Leipsic's first goal of the game, Portland's third, was the 11,000th goal in Winterhawk history. He finished the night with four points.
Brad Ross had three assists for Portland, extending his points streak to seven games.
