The first Central Oregon PubTalk to be held in Prineville was hosted by Solstice Brewing Company on Thursday evening. According to Erin Chaiet, operations manager for Economic Development for Central Oregon (EDCO), PubTalk is held eight to nine times per year, and at least once per year, they go to Sisters, Redmond, or Prineville. “The event is designed to give early-stage companies and entrepreneurs a chance to pitch their ideas to potential investors,” said Chaiet. Thursday evening’s presentation included keynote speaker Bruce Daucsavage, who has been at the helm of Ochoco Lumber since 1999. He spoke of how the company has weathered good and lean times in a turbulent timber industry. The other speaker was Early Stage presenter David Straight, who discussed his start-up, Fodder Feeds. He developed a system that enabled him the germination and cultivation of cereal grains and pod legumes based on hydroponic principles. PubTalk is put on by EDCO, and is sponsored by Columbia Bank, Karnopp Petersen LLP, OSU/Cascades, Jones and Roth, BendVenture, and Oregon Entrepreneurs Network.
