rell C. Cook, a Prineville resident, passed away at his home of natural causes June 22, 2012. He was 86 years old.
He was born Feb. 10, 1925 in?Condon, Ore. to John and Henrieta Cook. He attended most of his school years in?Condon, Ore. When he was 18, he enlisted into the army and was a paratrooper and received six military honorable medals during his three-year period. He returned home, where he married his wife, Gladys M. (Rife) Cook on?Dec. 24, 1948, for 62 years of marriage.
He worked 40 years at Pine Products sawmill. He retired in 1987.
He enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren, and he enjoyed his fishing and camping every summer, and just taking drives and looking at the wildlife.
He is survived by one sister, Lilian Yocum of The Dalles, Ore.; three brothers, Delmer Cook of Dufur, Ore., Loyd Cook of Condon, Ore., and Floyd Cook of Caldwell, Idaho; four daughters, Dolly Risland of Mitchell, Carolyn Griggs of Prineville, Edith Rife of Prineville, and Norma Jean Reich of Salem, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Darell was preceded in death by his parents, one stepbrother, Dave West, his wife, Gladys Cook, two grandchildren, Kelly Linker and Tonya (Patrick) Malloy, and one daughter, Mary Lee (Cook) Young.
Funeral arrangements were in the care of Prineville Funeral Home.
